View the COMPLETE STEKOA CREEK WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PLAN oR THE SUMMARY DOCUMENT CITIZENS GUIDE TO THE STEKOA CREEK WMP

The Chattooga Conservancy, in cooperation with the City of Clayton and the GA DNR, recently developed and completed a Watershed Management Plan for the Stekoa Creek watershed. A Watershed Management Plan (WMP) adheres to the EPA’s Nine Key Elements for Watershed Planning to inventory and propose ways to address sources of pollution within a watershed. Importantly, the Stekoa WMP now enables future water quality improvement projects within the Stekoa Creek watershed to qualify for competitive state and federal funding applications. The Chattooga Conservancy, in cooperation with the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission, recently received a GA DNR Section 319(h) grant that will continue our work in the Rabun County community to address “non-point” sources of pollution in the Stekoa Creek watershed.
